The Borefolio acquired 100 shares of Lam Research (LRCX) on this up-down-up day in the market.

Once again, I can virtually guarantee that if you bought along with Boring today, you almost certainly paid less than I did. My purchase price was $47.75 per share, a price that existed barely long enough for me to place my order this morning, and from which the stock retreated for most of the day, to close at a bid of 46.

Of course, that will matter almost not at all in six or twelve or eighteen months, when this little Lam will be hopping fences far higher than anything in the mid-$40 range. For today, though, it means we start LRCX in the hole $1.75/share, plus $27.49 in brokerage commissions.

Three other Borefolio holdings also stumbled today--two by only $1/8 point each (Green Tree and Texas Industries) and one by a more noticeable $1 5/8 (Potash). Kulicke & Soffa advanced a quarter-point to prevent the day from being a total wash-out. Thanks, KLIC!

By the way, there was no news on any of these issues today.

Next week, I intend to make at least one, and possibly as many as three, new buys for the Borefolio. I can disclose to you right now that my shopping list includes some truly Boring candidates. So get plenty of rest over the week-end: you wouldn't want to nod off while I was telling you all about them, right?
