Hatteras Financial Sets Common and Preferred Dividends

REIT cut its dividend 12.5% earlier this year.

Single-family-housing REIT Hatteras Financial (NYSE: HTS) announced yesterday its second-quarter dividend of $0.70 per share, the same rate it's paid for the past two quarters after cutting the payout 12.5% from $0.80 per share.

The board of directors said the quarterly dividend is payable on July 19 to the holders of record at the close of business on July 1. The REIT has made quarterly payouts to investors since 2008.

The board also announced that it will pay a quarterly dividend of $0.4765625 per share on its 7.625% Series A cumulative redeemable preferred stock on July 15 to holders of record on July 1. The preferred shares trade on the NYSE under the symbol HTS-PA.

The regular dividend payment equates to a $2.80-per-share annual dividend, yielding 11% based on the closing price today of Hatteras Financial's stock.
