Looking back at the changes Facebook (FB +0.91%) has made to its platform over the years, the social media giant has consistently borrowed innovations from competitors. Last week, the company brought hashtags to its social media experience, allowing users to more easily connect with larger conversations and real-time trends on the social network. The hope is that hashtags will drive higher levels of engagement.
