Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO) will be the new employer of high-profile technology writer and critic David Pogue. In an entry on his Tumblr page, the journalist said he is leaving his longtime employer, The New York Times, to contribute stories and commentary for the Internet giant. He will begin doing so "in a few weeks."
On its corporate Tumblr page, Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer said that in its employ Pogue "will lead a major expansion of consumer tech coverage on Yahoo and will publish columns, blog posts, and video stories that demystify the gadgets, apps, and technology that powers our users' daily lives."
Pogue had been a regular and occasionally controversial Times contributor for 13 years before his hiring by Yahoo! He has also contributed to other news organizations, such as National Public Radio.
