LOS ANGELES (AP) -- DC Comics, the home of Batman, is leaving Gotham.
Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment, informed New York-based staff in a memo Tuesday that plans are in the works to centralize operations of the Warner Bros.-owned comic-book giant in Burbank, Calif., in 2015. Next week, she'll meet with New York staff, all of whom have the chance to move.
Some of DC's operations -- such as its animation, movie, TV and portfolio planning -- moved to the home of Warner Bros. in 2010. Traditional publishing of printed comics had remained in New York, although writers and editors were scattered around the globe.
DC's publishing imprints are DC Comics, Vertigo and Mad Magazine. Combined, they put out more than 1,200 comic books a year.
