Wilson Bayly Holmes-Ovcon Ltd. engages in civil engineering and building contracting activities. The firm operates through the following segments: Building and Civil Engineering, Roads and Earthworks, Australia, United Kingdom, Property Development, and Construction Materials. The Building and Civil Engineering segment involves in the construction of retail shopping canters, commercial buildings, hotels, hospitals and residential apartments, mostly for the private sector, as well as civil engineering related infrastructure for the mining, industrial, energy, and oil and gas sectors. The Roads and Earthworks segment includes infrastructure and water and gas pipelines and other large infrastructure projects. The Australia segment focuses on the construction of retail, residential, and commercial buildings for the private building sector, as well as various engineering disciplines, servicing the road and mining sectors and telecommunications. The United Kingdom segment consists of construction of retail, residential, and commercial buildings for the private building sector and building refurbishments and fit-out projects. The Property Development segment refers to the acquisition of land or the rights to land and the development of schemes with a view to build or sell. The Construction Materials segment sells and manufactures long-steel products. The company was founded by John Wilson and Brian Holmes in 1970 and is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa.
