Fool Portfolio Report
Wednesday, November 15, 1995

An abbreviated report today, following a too busy day at Fool HQ.

First off, the Fool bombed today. The Dow rose over 50 points, the S&P 500 followed suit, and even the NASDAQ---on a big-stock day---found it in its heart to post a rise. So Foolish investors have to be disappointed by the .81% loss the Fool Port put up today.

The biggest percentage disappointments today were The Gap (down $1 3/8 to $45) and America Online (down $1 1/2 to $77), respectively. No significant news on either one. I guess that's a good thing. We'll write that off to profit-taking. Anyway, those two moves combined to sink Wednesday's Fool.

Outside of those moves, no other Fool stock fluctuated more than a half point. And none really had any news either. In other words, DULLSVILLE. All those highflying big-cap blue chips must have been in somebody else's portfolio today. We're still scratching our heads at the market's supposed gain!

What was kind of exciting today was to receive a fax from old Fool Portfolio holding Boston Technology. It came in this morning, with details of Boston Tech's third-quarter earnings announcement.

We're talking Disaster City.

Announcing a LOSS of 14 cents per share on lower than expected revenues (and 16% lower than last year's, in fact), Boston Technology dropped 3 bucks to $11. It traded in the $9 range for much of the day. As we sold this stock at $19 1/2 on July 11th, it would appear our rationale has now been more than justified. That said, any time a stock tanks a couple months after you've sold it, you've been a little bit lucky, too. Suffice to say that we're extremely happy that we sent in that order to Aufhauser when we did.

By the way, some of you have asked about where our Transaction Archive resides, for going back and locating ALL past Fool trades. All you have to do is enter our Hall of Portfolios (its own button on our main screen), and the top entry in that listbox is entitled "EXTRA INFO on the Fool Portfolio." It's right there.

Fool on!
