Non-GAAP EPS came in at $0.25. The eight earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.34 per share on the same basis. GAAP EPS of $0.90 for Q4 were 125% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.40 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 41.3%, 300 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 3.7%, 1,010 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 21.5%, 1,010 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $156.7 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.27.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $655.1 million. The average EPS estimate is $1.28.
The stock has a three-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 98 members out of 118 rating the stock outperform, and 20 members rating it underperform. Among 35 CAPS All-Star picks (recommendations by the highest-ranked CAPS members), 34 give Newport a green thumbs-up, and one give it a red thumbs-down.
