BlackBerry (BB -0.69%) has released an upgrade package for its new Z10 smartphone designed to improve the user experience. The company noted in a blog post that the new BlackBerry  updates are "focused on [users'] feedback." The upgrades include:

  • New features and fixes for Gmail account users as well as changes improving calls and conversation logs in the BlackBerry Hub, and enhancing the importing of contacts.
  • Improved performance for third-party apps.
  • Improved functionality of the Z10's low-light camera.
  • Enhanced online video and media streaming, along with increased battery life.

The download is approximately 150MB in size, and BlackBerry Z10 smartphone users should receive an automated notification from their service provider. Z10 owners can also manually check for updates of the software.

The BlackBerry Z10 phone is expected to be introduced to the U.S. market later this month after domestic wireless carriers complete testing of the new device.
