Starting tomorrow, eligible Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) subscribers who own the appropriate Apple (AAPL -1.22%) tablet or smartphone will be able to watch selected shows on their chosen device. TWC announced that it will begin video-on-demand and live event programming though its iOS "TWC TV" app starting at 10 a.m. Eastern time on Wednesday.

According to TWC, the initial lineup for the service consists of "over 1,100 hours of On Demand TV shows and movies from 26 top-rated networks and up to 11 live TV news, sports, and entertainment channels."

Accessing these offerings requires a Wi-Fi connection.

Previously, the app could be used only to access selected content at the location of the subscriber's cable service.
