In its fourth acquisition in four months, online fax service-turned-"cloud services" provider j2 Global (ZD -2.16%) announced Monday that it has just acquired NetShelter, "the biggest community of technology publishers dedicated to consumer electronics, computing, and mobile communications."

j2 used its Ziff Davis digital media subsidiary -- the same sub that bought IGN Entertainment back in February -- to make the acquisition from online advertising platform inPowered. In so doing, it added 150 consumer and business tech sites to its inventory, including names such as AndroidCentral.com, MacRumors.com, Neoseeker.com, SlashGear.com, and TechSpot.com.

j2 says that when combined with Ziff Davis' other tech websites, including PCMag.com, Geek.com, and Toolbox.com, ZD is now "the new No. 1 property in the technology category, according to comScore, with 29 million monthly U.S. unique visitors in April."

That said, j2 does not believe that the acquisition will have any material impact upon its operations. The company did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition.
