TripAdvisor (TRIP 4.61%) announced today that it has purchased the "award-winning" flight and airport information mobile app GateGuru. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but the GateGuru team will continue to manage the company from its New York City office.

GateGuru offers user-generated information and airport data to provide flyers with maps and information on stores, amenities, gate location data, and other airport details. The app includes weather updates, security wait times, and real-time flight status information.

Steve Kaufer, co-founder and CEO of TripAdvisor, said in a press release that "GateGuru nicely complements our existing flights products and we look forward to working with the GateGuru team as they continue to manage the GateGuru app and add great functionality to the TripAdvisor mobile experience."

The GateGuru team will report to Bryan Saltzburg, TripAdvisor's general manager of new initiatives and leader of the TripAdvisor Flights product and SeatGuru brand.
