Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway are perhaps the most impressive story in capitalism since the gilded age of the early 20th century. While Berkshire's annual meeting will be celebrated with huge fanfare, what will happen at Icahn Enterprises (IEP 1.01%)? Carl Icahn's empire greatly outperformed Berkshire this past year. Icahn Enterprises shares increased 158% in 2013, compared to Berkshire's 33%. In fact, Icahn Enterprises' share price has outperformed Berkshire's over the past 10-year, five-year and one-year time frames.
