Ask a handful of couples how they met and inevitably you'll find a few who wooed their soul mates at the office happy hour. But the more recent coupling phenomenon is searching for a partner online -- while you're at work.

According to a recent Washington Post Web Watch column, nearly 8 million lonely hearts searched singles websites while at work. (Suggestion: Close the door and keep a Word document on hand to cover up your prowling.)

Looking for love in all the right places now includes a growing list of online matchmaking sites. The most trafficked, according to Media Metrix, are Match.com, Yahoo! Personals(Nasdaq: YHOO), One2OneMatch.com, Matchmaker.com, and American Singles. In December, 26 million searched online to find their match, making electronic personals the fastest-growing category of paid Internet content, according to stats compiled by the Post.

Does Internet matchmaking work? Hard to say. But we certainly have some advice when it comes to taking your relationship to the next level -- handling money with your honey.
