BUY

We made the twenty-fifth trade in the Fool Portfolio on Monday, January 29, 1996, buying Medicis Pharamaceutical. Billing themselves as "The Dermatology Company," Medicis makes (surprise!) dermatological products, both over-the-counter and prescription, in topical and oral forms. Their two primary products are Dynacin (an oral prescription therapy for acne) and Esoterica (an over-the-counter fade cream for age spots and skin discoloration). The buy order was promptly filled by K. Aufhauser & Co. at $27 3/4.

SELL

Flying in the face of superstition, we made the thirty-fifth trade in the Fool Portfolio on Friday, September 13, 1996, selling Medicis Pharmaceuticals. This stock gave us a great run, but reached our full and fair valuation. As readers of The Motley Fool Investment Guide well know, our sell rule remains, "When you find a better place for your money, put it there." We are evaluating a few new investments with significantly more potential at these prices than we believe Medicis has here.

The stock has performed up to our every expectation, fulfilling our Foolish aim of doubling our money within 12 months of a small-cap purchase. The sell order was filled by K. Aufhauser & Co. at $39 3/4.
