Eli Lilly's second-quarter revenue surged 48% year over year to $23 billion. The gains were broad-based, with U.S. sales up 33% to $14.4 billion and international revenue up 80% to $8.6 billion.
The healthcare giant's obesity drugs remain powerful growth drivers. Sales of Mounjaro and Zepbound soared 91% and 44%, respectively, to $9.9 billion and $4.9 billion.

Key Data Points
All told, Eli Lilly's adjusted net income jumped 32% to $7.5 billion, or $8.38 per share. That was well above Wall Street's estimates, which had called for per-share profits of $6.58.
Stocking the pipeline
Encouraging ongoing sales trends prompted Eli Lilly to boost its full-year revenue target range to between $85 billion and $87 billion, up from a prior forecast of $82 billion to $85 billion.
Eli Lilly is using its surging profits from Mounjaro and Zepbound to bolster its development pipeline. The pharmaceutical titan recently acquired immunotherapy specialist Orna Therapeutics, neurology-focused Centessa Pharmaceuticals, and mental health treatment developer AtaiBeckley.
Eli Lilly also has potentially even more effective obesity drugs advancing through clinical trials.
"With our next-generation weight-loss medicine retatrutide and its complete clinical data package in hand, new manufacturing capacity coming online, and exciting new assets entering our pipeline through business development, Lilly's future, after 150 years, has never been brighter," CEO David Ricks said.
