On Nov. 3, Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) released third-quarter earnings for the period ended Sept. 30.

  • Operating revenues grew 37.8% to $4.2 billion, driven by 53% growth in U.S. franchised Electric and Gas and 537% growth in Commercial Power.
  • But earnings from continuing operations dropped off 22%.
  • Cash from operations and free cash flow both grew by 10%.
  • "With two quarters of combined operations in the books," said CEO James E. Rogers, "The new Duke Energy is making good progress in capturing the savings and realizing the promise of the Cinergy merger."
