Monday
The market is closed in observation of Presidents Day, but not every company is taking a breather. International companies obviously have no problem reporting on this day, but even a handful of stateside companies are checking in. Natural-gas distributor ONEOK (NYSE: OKE) will announce its quarterly results on Monday. It will, however, wait until Tuesday to hold its earnings call.
Tuesday
The market resumes trading on Tuesday, and it should be a bright day for solar energy. JA Solar (Nasdaq: JASO) and Trina Solar (NYSE: TSL) will both be reporting. Analysts are targeting healthy bottom-line growth at both solar stars.
If you're hungry for tech, Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) also reports Tuesday after the close. How is the company's surprise choice for CEO working out? Are the juggernauts done snapping up data storage and cloud specialists? We'll hopefully know more after Tuesday night's call.
Wednesday
Lumber Liquidators (NYSE: LL) walks the plank on Wednesday. The hardwood-flooring retailer shocked investors three months ago, after a disastrous SAP software installation bloated overhead and frustrated customers. Is the chain now over the hiccups that caused earnings to come in at less than half of what the market was expecting? It had better be.
Thursday
AIG (NYSE: AIG) is one of those ugly names most people remember from the financial meltdown, but the insurer's stock has popped sixfold since bottoming out two years ago. The bad news is that analysts are banking on a quarterly loss of $16.98 a share. The good news is that it's an improvement from the $53.23-per-share deficit it posted during the same period a year earlier.
Friday
The final trading day of the week finds Tenet Healthcare (NYSE: THC) coming in for its quarterly fiscal physical. Health care is a volatile sector these days, given all the regulatory changes -- and challenges to those changes -- but Tenet shareholders will have to take it one quarterly checkup at a time.
Until next week, I remain,
Rick Munarriz
