After unveiling newly redesigned iMac all-in-one desktops last month set to be available in November and December, Apple (AAPL -1.22%) has now officially announced that the 21.5-inch models will launch on Friday, Nov. 30. The larger 27-inch model remains scheduled for a December launch, although the company has not specified a date yet.

The new iMacs feature an extremely thin design by utilizing an advanced manufacturing process called friction-stir welding as well as display lamination. They also feature the newest Ivy Bridge processors from Intel (INTC -2.40%) and Kepler GPUs from NVIDIA (NVDA -10.01%).

On the last conference call, Apple CEO Tim Cook acknowledged that the new iMacs would be "constrained for the full quarter in a significant way," so there may be some shortages even though they are now available.
