RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is in Brazil on the last leg of a six-day swing through Latin America and the Caribbean to boost trade, security, and diplomatic relations.
Biden will be giving a speech in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday and then pay a visit to state-run oil company Petrobras (PBR +2.92%).
Biden will also visit a slum while in Rio and on Friday meet with Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff, helping pave the way for her expected state visit to Washington later this year.
Earlier this week Biden visited Colombia, where he praised the government's security advances in recent years. He arrived in Brazil from Trinidad & Tobago where he met with leaders from across the Caribbean to sign a trade agreement.
