Stop us if you've heard this one before. Apple (AAPL 0.38%) may be preparing to release a new product, but supply might have trouble keeping up with demand. That storyline is all too familiar nowadays, and the iPad Mini could be the next culprit. Apple is expected to put a Retina display in the new device, and Jefferies analyst Peter Misek believes there are significant production bottlenecks surrounding the display panel.
Misek estimates that Apple will only have 2 million to 5 million units available in the fourth quarter, which could be significantly below demand. Other iPad models may have to pick up some slack, and Apple might keep the first-generation iPad Mini around at a lower price point.
