Switzerland-based TE Connectivity (TEL 0.05%) will soon have a new CIO.

TE announced today that it has appointed Joseph F. Eckroth Jr. to take over the top information spot in November, when the current chief information officer, Ronald F. Vance, retires from office, effective Dec. 31, following 30 years of service with the company. He'll remain in the position until Eckroth comes on board. 

After thanking Vance for his three decades of service to the company, TE Connectivity Chairman and CEO Tom Lynch welcomed Eckroth noting, "Joe's experience delivering innovative customer-facing solutions will be a key asset and aligns well with our mission to continually deliver extraordinary experiences to our customers."

Eckroth is currently serving as executive VP of global customer care and CIO for Hertz, which he's been with since 2007. He also oversees the corporate project management office, revenue management function, and navigations solutions business, which is the exclusive provider of the Hertz Neverlost units and related services.

Before joining Hertz, Eckroth served as executive VP and COO of New Century Financial. and as CIO for Mattel and two of General Electric's business units.

Eckroth earned his MBA from Pepperdine University School of Business and Management and his bachelor's degree from the University of La Verne in La Verne, Calif.
