Macau has been a rising tide that's lifted all gaming companies, but this quarter, Las Vegas Sands (LVS -0.36%) and Wynn Resorts (WYNN -1.72%) have been two big beneficiaries. It's not surprising that Las Vegas Sands has gained share with a prime location on Cotai and Sands Cotai Central now clicking on all cylinders, but Wynn's performance is surprising. 

Wynn grew faster than Macau in both the mass and VIP markets, which is surprising considering the fact that it's relegated to the Macau Peninsula, Macau's old gaming area.
