ALEXANDRIA, Va. (October 3, 2025) – The Motley Fool, a leader in financial services for over 30 years known for expert stock recommendations and innovative AI-powered investing tools, announced the relaunch of Motley Fool Supernova, one of its most successful investing services.
Originally launched in 2012, Motley Fool Supernova delivered an average annualized return of 21.8% over nine years – nearly double the S&P 500’s 12.3% return – before being retired in 2021. The investment service has been relaunched and rebooted for today’s investor combining The Motley Fool’s signature Rule Breaker investing principles along with a new proprietary, AI-powered stock database to help individual investors uncover the next generation of innovators and disruptors to invest in.
Two Real-Money Portfolios, Built for Different Stock Investors
The relaunched Motley Fool Supernova service will feature two distinct real-money portfolios, in which The Motley Fool is investing its own money in plain view for members to follow:
- Odyssey Mission – Led by longtime Motley Fool investment analysts Tim Beyers and Dave Meier, this portfolio simulates a wage-earner who may have limited upfront capital but can build wealth gradually with smaller, recurring investments. The portfolio will launch with $50,000 and add $1,000 twice per month.
- Phoenix Mission – Led by Motley Fool investment analyst Emily Flippen and long-time contributing stock analyst Rick Munarriz, this portfolio is designed for near-retirement and retirement investors managing larger sums – those looking to build a growth portfolio over time and later shift their focus to distributions in retirement. The portfolio will launch with $100,000 and build by $40,000 each quarter, hitting $500,000 after 10 quarters.
Both portfolios will draw from the “Supernova Stock Exchange,” a curated selection of companies from one or more of the following groups:
- Active stock recommendations in Motley Fool Rule Breakers
- Active stock recommendations from Team Rule Breakers in Motley Fool Stock Advisor
- Companies scoring above 75 in the new AI-powered Rule Breakers Database
AI-Powered Rule Breaker Database
Built by The Motley Fool’s world-class AI engineering team, the new Rule Breakers Database translates Co-Founder David Gardner’s proven investing principles – including the “Six Traits of a Rule Breaker Stock” – into a sophisticated AI-powered scoring system that evaluates more than 3,100 public companies across thousands of data points. The new database pulls from over 400 data feeds, regulatory filings, earnings transcripts, and LLM-assisted analysis to score and rank publicly-traded companies from 1–100 across innovation, dominance, momentum, brand strength, and deemed by financial media as overvalued.
Motley Fool Quotes
“Motley Fool Supernova is Fool history meeting Fool future,” said Tim Beyers, co-lead of the original and relaunched Odyssey Mission portfolios, who has been with the company for more than 20 years. “Members can see us put real money to work using Rule Breaker investing principles that identified some of the market’s greatest performers for over two decades, like MercadoLibre and Nvidia. Now, the rebooted service is supercharged by an AI-powered stock database built to uncover tomorrow’s disruptors.”
“Our AI systems give individual investors a sharper and wider lens than I ever had in 28 years of stock picking,” said David Gardner, co-founder and Chief Rule Breaker at The Motley Fool, host of the Rule Breaker Investing podcast, author of Rule Breaker Investing, and Chairman of The Motley Fool Foundation. “It’s like strapping a jetpack onto our Rule Breaker investing process… smarter lift, sharper signals, and a clear lead in AI-powered investing.”
“The new Rule Breakers Database is a breakthrough in AI-powered stock analysis,” said Brian Richards, Senior Vice President of the Rule Breakers Strategy at The Motley Fool, who has been with the company for over 20 years. “This proprietary system aims to help our investment analysts and our members spot innovators and disruptors earlier in their growth cycles and with greater efficiency.”
