1. Join a tasking app

If you don't have a specific gig or service in mind that you'd like to offer, don't rule out freelancing just yet. In fact, a tasking app may be a perfect way for you to earn some extra cash and even determine if there's a particular type of gig you might prefer doing in the future. Tasking apps run the full gamut.

For example, some tasking apps simply consist of surveys that you fill out or videos that you watch in return for cash. Some of these apps give you a referral link that you can share with friends or acquaintances to boost your cash-earning power. Other apps involve completing specific tasks and odd jobs (such as building furniture or running errands) for which you can earn an hourly or per-project rate.

14. Launch a podcast

If you have a niche in mind that you think you could spend hours talking about and have considerable passion for, you may consider launching your own podcast. There are many ways to launch a podcast, and you might be surprised how low the overhead costs are. If you have a computer with recording software (which is often free) and a mic (you can get a decent mic for anywhere from $150 to $200), those are the basic software and hardware requirements you need to get started.

In addition to your niche, in order to get your podcast up and running, you'll also need to consider whether you want to do a solo show, have one or more co-hosts, or do an interview-style show. There are also a few different forums in which you can launch a podcast. If you already have an audience or want to go it on your own, you can submit your podcast to the traditional streaming services (requirements for each vary) and work on getting your podcast monetized through ad sponsorships.

In some cases, you can get your podcast launched on a streaming platform for free. The flip side is that you'll have to put a lot more work into growing your viewership and acquiring advertising partners.

Another way to launch your podcast is by partnering with a podcast network. A podcast network can help you launch and market your podcast, and connect you with advertisers in return for a significant cut of ad revenue.

While there's an abundance of full-time social media management roles available, plenty of businesses and creative agencies are also searching for part-time, contract, or freelance talent in this field.
