07/01/98 - Buy Announcement
On a hot July 2, 1998, the Fool Portfolio cut the thread to its Spiders (Amex: SPY) and poured itself into Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX). The belief is that Starbucks can beat the S&P 500 (which the Spiders mirror) over the long-term. Spiders did serve us well, though. For the numbers, please see below. While if you're interested in investing in the S&P 500 Spiders (they're like an S&P 500 index fund, but trade as a stock), please see the Spider sell report. For information on the long-term purchase of Starbucks, please see the Fool's buy report.
