If you want to invest in the next big conglomerate, this stock belongs on your radar.

With a market capitalization of well over $700 billion, it's fair to say that Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A +0.51%)(BRK.B +0.61%) has a limited ability to produce the market-shattering returns investors associate with the name. However, Markel (MKL +0.94%) is a much smaller company with a similar business model that investors might want to take a closer look at.
