There may never truly be another Berkshire, but this company is similar in many ways.
It's unlikely that another conglomerate will replicate Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK.A -0.21%) (BRK.B -0.34%) stellar performance record. However, specialty insurance company Markel (MKL -1.82%) has a lot in common with an earlier-stage Berkshire, and right now it could be an attractive place to put money to work.
