2027 is the new launch date for the Neutron rocket

Management attributes the delay to the recent discovery of an issue in the propellant dome manufacturing process, though the company states it has since resolved the issue.
In response to the update, KeyBanc slashed its price target on Rocket Lab to $100 from $135, maintaining an overweight rating. Similarly, Greg Pendy, a Clear Street analyst, lowered the firm's price target to $105 from $129 while maintaining a buy rating.
Based on Rocket Lab shares closing at $59.18 yesterday, the $100 and $105 price targets imply upside of 69% and 77%, respectively.
Should investors shoot for the stars with Rocket Lab stock after today's sell-off?
While Rocket Lab's delayed timeline for the Neutron rocket is certainly disappointing -- and it's understandable why some impatient investors would exit their positions -- the dip provides a great buying opportunity for those who have been waiting on the sidelines to buy Rocket Lab stock. Ending the second quarter 2026 with a record backlog of $2.36 billion, Rocket Lab's launch services are in high demand -- a fact that outshines the fact that it will take a little longer than expected to see Neutron's debut launch.
