On March 6, specialty-clothing retailer Chico's FAS (NYSE:CHS) released fourth-quarter earnings for the period ended Feb. 3.

  • During the fourth quarter, the company opened 51 stores, closed two, and expanded or relocated 26.
  • In fiscal 2007, management plans to open 135 to 145 new stores, of which 55 to 60 will be Chico's stores, 55 to 60 will be White House/Black Market, and 20 to 25 will be Soma.
  • In the first quarter of fiscal 2007, the company plans to close the Fitigues brand that was acquired in fiscal 2006.
