During last month's San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro
When Frascotti says autobot Bumblebee has a big 12 months ahead, he isn't kidding. Here are three things that will occupy the Camaro-cum-robot warrior:
- Transformers: Prime, a new animated series that should test the ability of Hasbro's TV studio to produce its own work. The Hub TV channel is a joint venture with Discovery Communications
(Nasdaq: DISCA) . - A new video game, War for Cybertron, built by High Moon Studios. Video games were ever-present at Comic-Con, with Activision Blizzard
(Nasdaq: ATVI) , South Korea's NCSoft, and Electronic Arts(Nasdaq: ERTS) all touting new products during the event. - The third Transformers movie, due out next July and again directed by Michael Bay. The first two have already led to more than $1 billion in merchandising sales, Frascotti said.
It's a busy time, but as Frascotti puts it, "reimaging the brand" in these and other ways could lead to unimaginable profits.
