Although we don't believe in timing the market or panicking over market movements, we do like to keep an eye on big changes -- just in case they're material to our investing thesis.

What: Shares of 3-D technology innovator RealD (NYSE: RLD) surged more than 10% in intraday trading today on no apparent news.

So What: With no stock-jolting news out, it's tough to attribute much meaning to the jump.

Now What: The song remains the same for RealD. The company -- which works to advance the burgeoning 3-D entertainment market with content developers like Disney (NYSE: DIS), theater operators like Regal Entertainment (NYSE: RGC), and consumer electronics manufacturers like Sony (NYSE: SNE) -- conducted its initial public offering over the summer to bring in more cash to help it continue to invest in technology and grow the business. RealD has been pretty consistently unprofitable, though, and so the big question for investors is whether growth in the 3-D market will help the company paint the bottom line black.
