Every month, John and David look inside their real-money portfolio for the companies with the most attractive prospects. Here are their three best buys now for October. The first one is TripAdvisor. The online travel research company spun out of Expedia in 2011 and continues extend its leadership position. Shares are very attractive right now based on the company's future prospects. The next one is Denbury Resources. Oil prices have been fluctuating, and Denbury's shares have fallen a bit. But its recent deal with ExxonMobil is a perfect example of the company's plan to grow over the next decade. The final one is LinkedIn. Shares may look expensive based on a P/E basis, but that's the wrong way to look at it. LinkedIn has created a professional network that's changing the way people manage their careers – and that network is very valuable. John and David are always on the lookout for new investment ideas. But they always remember what Peter Lynch said: that sometimes the best stock to buy is one you already own.
