A look at low-cost big box retailers.

The following video is from Thursday's MarketFoolery podcast, in which host Chris Hill, along with analysts Jason Moser and Joe Magyer, discuss the top business and investing stories.

In this segment, the guys take a look at some of the low-cost big box retailers, specifically Target ( TGT 0.84% ) and Wal-Mart ( WMT 1.51% ). Wal-Mart was trading down today, after lowering guidance for the fourth quarter significantly, while Target's guidance was up by quite a bit. Here, we hear about what the major differences are between the two companies that could be causing this, and what some of the pressures are that are affecting this industry as a whole.

This article represents the opinion of the writer, who may disagree with the “official” recommendation position of a Motley Fool premium advisory service. We’re motley! Questioning an investing thesis – even one of our own – helps us all think critically about investing and make decisions that help us become smarter, happier, and richer.
