NEW YORK (AP) -- The dollar is mixed in early trading against major world currencies.

The dollar is strengthening slightly against the euro after the credit rating agency Moody's stripped France of its prized AAA credit rating. France is the No. 2 economy among euro countries.

The euro is trading at $1.2802, down from $1.2807 late Monday.

The British pound is stronger against the dollar, $1.5917 compared with $1.5905 on Monday. The dollar is stronger against the Japanese yen. It buys 81.60 yen, compared with 81.33 on Monday.
