As a people, we've become accustomed to getting what we want. And why not? The Internet is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Enter a search, get a response: It's on-demand media at its finest, most often brought to you by Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL).
"Ubiquitous" may be the best way to describe the search king. According to the latest data from comScore, Google served 66.7% of all searches in December. But hey, at least the Bing ads starring comedian Jonah Ray are cool.
Perhaps Mr. Softy is fighting the wrong battle? Rather than improve text search, Nuance Communications (NASDAQ:NUAN) is working on a voice assistant that will handle requests wherever you may be. Think of it as a butler that travels with you, fulfilling your every need via connected apps and a massive online database.
