Verizon (VZ -0.53%) has declared its latest quarterly dividend. The company will pay $0.515 per share of its stock on May 1 to shareholders of record as of April 10. This amount matches the previous two disbursements; prior to that, the firm had dispensed $0.50 per share. Its dividends have steadily increased over time. In the last several years, it has tended to lift its disbursement once every four quarters.

In the press release announcing the move, Verizon pointed out that it paid a total of $5.2 billion for dividends in 2012.

The new payout annualizes to $2.06 per share. That yields 4.3% at the company's current stock price of $47.96.
