Today, Staples became the first major U.S. retailer to sell 3D Systems (DDD -1.97%) printers in its stores. Staples said, in a press release, that select stores will sell 3D Systems' The Cube model by the end of June, and that the printer is now available through its online store for $1,300.
Avi Reichental, 3D Systems' President and Chief Executive Officer, said in the release that, "Staples is the ideal partner to deliver the only true plug and play 3D Printer to offices, living rooms, classrooms and hobby shops, extending our reach and consumer access."
The Cube printer works with both Mac and Windows operating systems, has Wi-Fi connectivity, and comes with 25 template designs. The device can print objects up to 5.5" x 5.5" x 5.5" with 16 different colors. Customers can use templates that the company provides, or buy additional software to design their own templates.
