The state of Florida is increasingly turning away from fuel oil power plants, replacing them with facilities that run on cheap and plentiful natural gas instead. Though the falling price of domestic coal may make it competitive again in certain regions of the country, transportation costs to the Southeast, combined with the region's efficient natural gas power plants, indicate that this will be a strong market for the commodity for years to come.
