The hits just keep on coming for software shrinking violet Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT).

Halting what had been a very strong year thus far for the perennial laggard, shares of the software giant plummeted after its second-quarter earnings disappointed investors in just about every way imaginable. Perhaps most notably, the company was forced to take yet another writedown (remember aQuantitative?) on Surface RT tablets in need of a home. And while this certainly hurt the company, many observers expected the Surface Pro to be the real leader in Microsoft's mobile future anyway.

However, as tech and telecom analyst Andrew Tonner explains in this video, all might not be well with Microsoft's tablet better half, either.
