Facebook (META -10.56%) is finally doing what it should have done all along, Fool contributor Tim Beyers says in the following video.

In a recent blog post by engineering manager Hong Ge, the social network said it would update its ad display algorithm to place greater emphasis on user actions. Thus, the theory goes, if you routinely hide an ad, Facebook will stop showing it to you.

Trouble is, Tim says, this is the sort of enhanced feature Facebook should have adopted years ago. What's more, the change speaks to the inherent benefits of Google's (GOOGL -1.97%) search-driven model, wherein you only see results related to what you're already seeking.

What will the change mean for your News Feed and forthcoming Instagram ads? Can we expect better pitches? And what of Facebook stock? Will having a more personalized engine lead the shares to new highs? Tim answers this question and more in the video. Please click to watch now, then leave a comment to let us know where you stand.
