If you think Bank of America (BAC -1.07%) is a bank that's just too complicated to ever own stock in, think again.

Though BofA does have a derivatives portfolio and an investment banking that has trading operations, a huge chunk of the bank's income still comes from basic banking businesses. And it's in those basic banking businesses that the bank has a big advantage.
