The Walking Dead returns for season four on Oct. 13. And if AMC Networks (AMCX 5.66%) has its way, we'll be stuck in the zombie apocalypse for at least another decade, Fool contributor Tim Beyers says in the following video.

CEO Josh Sapan said as much in a recent Barron's interview. "We can do 10 more years of zombies," he told the magazine. Presumably, he's referring to the current show and a planned spinoff.

Either way, he's right, Tim argues. The current show is only a third of the way through the stories that have thus far appeared in The Walking Dead comic book. Mix in several entirely made-for-TV storylines that remain in progress and there appears to be plenty of material for a decade of shows.

Is the extensibility of the Walking Dead franchise enough to deliver outsize gains to today's AMC investors? Tim answers this question and more in the video. Please click to watch now and then leave a comment to let us know where you stand.
