Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is preparing to enter the small but growing phablet market, according to a recent Bloomberg report. Speculation around a larger iPhone isn't exactly new, but investors are now hearing more possible details about the rumored device. Apple may launch an iPhone with a display in the range of 4.7 to 5.5 inches. That would follow in Samsung's (OTC:SSNLF) footsteps, as the South Korean giant has enjoyed much success in the phablet market.
The reports also indicate that Apple is looking at curved glass for its displays, which would also be taking a page out of Samsung's playbook after its launch of the Galaxy Round. However, the value proposition of curved displays is a little questionable, especially when considering the pricing premium associated. Samsung's older Galaxy Nexus had a curved display, so presumably Samsung would be aware of how well such devices fare.
