Walt Disney (DIS -1.86%) and Marvel should create a companion comic book for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Fool contributor Tim Beyers says in the following video.

We've already seen one crossover. Just recently, Agent Phil Coulson and his team were called in to clean up after the events of Thor: The Dark World destroyed a portion of Greenwich, England. A comic book series based on the show could go further by expanding on subplots or fleshing out minor characters who get little time on air.

Having a comic might also ease one of fans' key concerns with the series: that it lacks the superheroes who make the Marvel Universe larger than life. A comic book series could mix in heroes known for their ties to S.H.I.E.L.D. while giving the TV showrunners more grist for storytelling.

Time Warner and DC Entertainment embraced this very dynamic by introducing David Ramsey's character from the TV hit Arrow as a character in the Green Arrow comic book. Isn't it time Marvel followed suit? Or would you rather the company keep a distinct continuity for the comics?
