The Department of Defense announced 18 new defense contracts Monday, worth $1.29 billion in total value. The big winner of the day was Boeing, which won three separate contracts -- including a monster $750 million award for upgrades on the B-1 bomber. But Boeing wasn't the only winner Monday. Among other defense contractors winning contracts:
- United Technologies (UTX 0.07%) won the second biggest contract of the day -- a $167 million cost-plus-incentive-fee contract to provide operations and maintenance support on Low-Rate Initial Production lot VII F135 propulsion systems for Lockheed F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter jets operated by the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, and for the U.K. military besides. UTC will be working on this contract through December 2016.
- Raytheon (RTN +0.00%) was awarded $69.2 million-ceiling-priced delivery order under a previously issued basic ordering agreement. Raytheon will repair and replace 32 repairable assemblies and 33 replaceable assemblies that are part of U.S. Navy F/A-18 fighter jet Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) systems by December 2015.
- General Dynamics (GD 0.30%) was awarded a $7.4 million contract modification to make security upgrades on all Joint Execution and Tasking Systems for Space Services for the U.S. Space and Missile Systems Center. This work will include upgrading commercial off-the-shelf hardware and software, redesigning developmental PowerPoint software, and redesigning software that retrieves messages and files from the Multi-Compartmented Collaboration Service. General Dynamics is to complete work on this contract by June 30, 2015.
