Microsoft's (MSFT 0.37%) annual Build developer conference kicks off tomorrow in San Francisco, and in this segment from Tuesday's Tech Teardown, Motley Fool tech and telecom bureau chief Evan Niu takes a look ahead to what investors can expect from the conference this year. Investors can expect a lot of announcements related to both Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1. Microsoft is also expected to reveal some high-level information about Windows 9, which is expected to launch next year.

Last summer, erstwhile CEO Steve Ballmer announced a major reorganizational initiative, One Microsoft, hoping to unify all of the company's moving parts. Evan says that he'll be watching closely for how much progress the company has made toward this goal. He will also have his eye on some possible technical convergence for the company's various operating systems, such as Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1, as well as a Microsoft personal assistant to compete with Apple's (AAPL 1.27%) Siri, and some possible details on the next major version of Windows.
