On Thursday's Market Foolery, host Chris Hill and Market Foolery Funds analyst, Bill Barker, shake their heads at a back-to-school sale, and then talk about how Amazon (AMZN 1.30%) may just put every retailer out of business.

Staples (SPLS) starts a back-to-school promotion on Sunday, June 29th that will match 110% of the price from any retailer, even Amazon.com. While Chris appreciates the promotion, the fact that the it centers on "back to school" irritates Chris, especially because the school year is only just wrapping up. Bill wonders if the targeted consumer is focusing on the next school year, instead of the summer. Could Staples be targeting those who hate their children?

After their emotions about the campaign are put to the side, the investing takeaway centers on how Amazon is taking away customers from brick and mortar retailers.
