Tasty Bones XYZ is a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) created by Royal Labs. Unlike many NFT collections, this one has a storyline behind it that involves skeletons fetching food from the land of the living and bringing it to their souls in the land of the dead.

According to the Tasty Bones team, it's designed to be a community-driven, interactive NFT experience. Holders will be able to interact with their NFTs to increase their rarity.

NFTs are speculative investments, and these are no exception, but they are at least more affordable than some of the high-profile collections. Keep reading to learn how they work and more about them.

Uniqueness

What makes Tasty Bones XYZ unique?

Every Tasty Bones NFT is a unique digital collectible generated from a combination of more than 240 traits. The collection includes 4,999 skeletons that fetch food offerings, as well as 45 hungry ghosts and five demons that try to steal those food offerings.

Since these are digital collectibles, their main selling point is the design, and their success will depend on how many people like the art style. However, there are a few other perks of the Tasty Bones XYZ collection.

Tasty Bones NFT holders can connect their wallets to the collection's web portal for interactive experiences and exclusive benefits. These can include collecting or stealing food offerings, depending on the type of Tasty Bones NFT you have, and receiving giveaways.

You can also commercialize the art for any Tasty Bones NFT you own. This has become fairly common among major NFT collections, with Bored Ape Yacht Club another one that gives NFT holders commercial rights.

Tasty Bones does put one restriction on these commercial rights -- your right to do this without restriction is limited to where you'll generate gross revenue of $100,000 or less. If you'll generate more, the Tasty Bones team wants to review the proposal first.

Where it came from

Where Tasty Bones XYZ came from

Tasty Bones XYZ launched on Feb. 13, 2022. Royal Labs, an NFT launchpad, serves as the development team. The project lead is Foster West, a medical physics doctoral student who goes by the pseudonym 5TimesDistilled.

The other two members of the team are Eyah, the lead artist, and Evak, the community manager. They're only known by those pseudonyms.

How Tasty Bones XYZ works

The Tasty Bones NFT collection is minted on the Ethereum (ETH -1.08%) blockchain. It has 5,049 NFTs separated into five types. Here are the types, their rarities, and how many of each are in the collection:

  • Funny Bones (Common): 2,999 NFTs, also called "The Entertainers"
  • Meaty Bones (Uncommon): 1,500 NFTs, also called "The Fighters"
  • Speedy Bones (Rare): 500 NFTs, also called "The Runners"
  • Hungry Ghosts (Epic): 45 NFTs, also called "The Departed"
  • Demons (Legendary): 5 NFTs, also called "The Forgotten"

There are more than 240 traits across seven trait categories (body, headwear, food offering, eyewear, head, background, and nose) that determine what each Tasty Bones NFT looks like. The type and the traits of a Tasty Bones NFT determine how rare and valuable it is.

Partnerships

Partnerships

Tasty Bones has established a few partnerships to expand its brand. It partnered with Top Drawer Merch for a launch day drop of official Tasty Bones products. Top Drawer Merch is a merchandising agency that has worked with quite a few major brands, including NFT collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club, as well as popular music artists.

Rarity Sniper has partnered with Tasty Bones to be the NFT collection's exclusive rarity partner. Rarity Sniper is an NFT community and a platform that helps users find the rarest NFTs in a collection.

Risks

Unique risks

The risk of Tasty Bones is the same as investing in NFTs from any other collection. NFTs don't generate income, and their value typically isn't tied to factors you can quantify. Prices tend to be based on buyer demand, so you're relying on the whims of the market.

Tasty Bones XYZ is still one of the smaller NFT collections, which has its pros and cons. You can buy a Tasty Bones NFT for far less than what you'd pay for any of the most famous NFTs. If Tasty Bones takes off, people who got in early will likely make money.

That's a big "if," though. If there's a way to predict which NFT collections will be successful, no one I know has found it. Selling NFTs at a profit often comes down to luck, making it closer to gambling than investing.

Should I invest?

Is Tasty Bones XYZ a good investment?

Tasty Bones XYZ isn't a good investment. Like the overall NFT market, it's too risky and unpredictable to recommend.

There are things to like about Tasty Bones. It has an interesting art style, the team behind it at least put some thought into the backstory, and it has an interactive element. There are also plenty of Tasty Bones NFTs available for far less than $500 as of June 2022, so they're not ultra-expensive.

But none of those are indicators that Tasty Bones prices will increase. So far, returns have been hit or miss, which you can see by checking the sales history of these NFTs. Some sellers made a profit, while others sold at a fraction of what they originally paid.

Tasty Bones NFTs are only worth buying if you like the concept and are interested in them for entertainment purposes. If you want to make money, there are much better investments out there.
