Is Tesla Falling Behind in Autonomous Driving?

Tesla's comments and actions show that it may already be behind competitors in self-driving technology.

Tesla (TSLA 5.42%) has been a leader in autonomous driving with its Autopilot software, which costs between $6,000 and $12,000 in new vehicles. But is Tesla the industry leader, or are companies like General Motors (GM 3.33%) and Alphabet (GOOG 0.15%) (GOOGL 0.57%) surpassing Tesla's technology with very little fanfare?
